The motivation of Alienation and Acquaintance comes from the phenomenon that the education of morality, etiquette, and humanity are inevitably impacted by excessive materialism and consumerism caused by wildly growing society. People become too fickle, indifferent and selfish to care for what happened around them. Instead, quite a few are addicted to virtual internet and only think about themselves. It seems to be a common phenomenon in our society. In my series of work, I apply buildings of different styles as a metaphor of the objects we familiar with – no matter when the buildings are built, what value and function they possess, or what style they origin from. Every day we hurry by without thinking their connection with us. Sometimes it us long to find that one building has been demolished in the neighborhood we live in. Gradually those objects we once familiar with become estranged and vague in relation. Therefore, the purpose of creating this series of work is to arouse public awareness of the things and objects around us. Every single person in society is connected to each other; and only by mutual understanding, tolerance and progress, can we avoid the society becoming indifferent.
